Apple is holding an event today to reveal some specifics about the latest varieties of their iPhone smartphone – the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c.

Rumors have been circulating about Apple’s two new offerings for months, building anticipation for the official report from the tech company. Although the new iPhones will likely structurally resemble the last one, there’s one dramatic appearance change that will probably be announced for the iPhone 5s. In addition to the white and black iPhones that have been available since the first smartphone in 2008, Apple will reportedly unveil a champagne-colored version.

The iPhone 5c, billed as Apple’s economy smartphone, will also have different color possibilities. It’s expected that the 5c will be available in white, blue, yellow, green and pink.

Both the iPhone 5s and 5c are expected to have the same basic specs as the iPhone 5 – but many anticipate that the 5s will make security a primary focus.

One of the possible security measures Apple might introduce is a fingerprint reader around or on the home button. The rumor carries some weight, as Apple recently purchased AuthenTec – a company that specialized in fingerprint sensors.

The iPhone 5s will very likely also feature an improved camera. While the iPhone 5c will probably keep Apple’s standard 8 megapixel camera, the 5s is almost definitely going to see an improvement. With Samsung’s Galaxy S4 carrying a 13 mexapixel camera, it seems fairly certain that the 5s will either meet or exceed its quality.

The 5s might also feature an A7 processor and increased battery life.
