Apple reportedly plans to release two new iPhones with bigger screens, one measuring 4.5-inches, the other a full five inches.

Apple recently released the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c and, with each new incarnation of the iPhone, Apple has been steadily increasing the screen size. The original iPhone had a screen measuring 3.5” diagonally, and the most recent iPhone 5s boasts a 4-inch (diagonal) screen. Though reports vary as to the exact screen size of the upcoming iPhone 6, one report suggests that the confusion is due to Apple’s testing of various screen sizes. This report confirms that the final decision has been made and the iPhone 6 screen will be 4.8-inches. The second anticipated iPhone model will likely have an even bigger screen. To put the size in perspective, the iPad mini (tablet) screen measures 7.9-inches.

Apple Hopes Bigger Screens Will Win Over Chinese Market

As other tech companies, such as Samsung, earn success with their bigger phones, Apple is rumored to be rushing to put iPhones with bigger screens on the shelves as soon as possible. Samsung and Apple are currently fighting for dominance in China, where devices with bigger screens are popular. The Samsung Galaxy S 4 has a 5-inch screen and the Galaxy Note 3 measures in at 5.7-inches.
