Anne Hathaway hit the red carpet in an edgy ensemble for The Intern premiere in New York City at the Ziegfeld Theater Monday night.

Anne Hathaway’s ‘Intern’ Premiere Look

Hathaway donned a black beaded Rodarte Fall 2015 dress for the premiere of her new flick. She was styled with Jimmy Choo ‘Claudette’ sandals and a Rauwolf clutch. The actress wore her hair in a loose curl and kept the makeup neutral, except for a smokey eye.

“A look at ‘The Look,'” Hathaway captioned a snap of her getup that she posted to E! Online’s Instagram account during her Instagram takeover yesterday.

“Many thanks to the @Honest_Beauty, @votrevu, and @josiemarancosmetics for giving me (really @jilliandempsey) the right stuff to have a glamorous AND all natural face!” Hathaway captioned a picture of the beauty products that went into her premiere look.

The Intern is a return to comedy for Hathaway, who broke onto the scene with movies like The Princess Diaries and The Devil Wears Prada. Over the years, the 32-year-old actress carved out a place in Hollywood as a more serious actress, starting with Brokeback Mountain and continuing with the likes of Rachel Getting Married, Love and Other Drugs and Les Miserables, for which she won her Oscar. According to Hathaway, she hasn’t intentionally been avoiding comedy.

“I follow the work, I follow where the roles are best for me, where the directors are most interesting, it kind of took me down a more serious path for a while,” Hathaway told Variety. “That said, I’m very happy to be at a premiere where no one looks like they need a drink. After my last two movies, nobody could talk after them.”

Hathaway was drawn to The Intern for two main reasons – her costar Robert DeNiro and her husband Adam Schulman‘s parents.

“Bob De Niro fit the character so perfectly,” Hathaway said. “But the real reason I wanted to do this movie was because I knew how much my in-laws would love it. And they are here, and they do.”

The Intern hits theaters Sept. 25.
