Amy Locane-Bovenizer, Former ‘Melrose Place’ Star, Faces More Jail Time In DUI Case

Amy Locane-Bovenizer may have to face more prison time for her vehicular homicide conviction — after an appeals court determined that her sentence was not a severe enough punishment on Friday.

The Somerset County Prosecutor reportedly appealed Locane-Bovenizer’s sentence, claiming that it sent a “bewildering message” about the penalty of her crime: a drunken crash that killed Helene Seeman in June 2010.

Locane-Bovenizer was convicted of vehicular homicide and assault by auto and sentenced to three years in prison — she only served two and a half years of her sentence before she was released on parole in June 2015.

The actress could have been sentenced to 15 years — and now the New Jersey state’s Superior Court Appellate division ruled that the judge on her case had not provided a sufficient explanation for the lighter sentence.

The case was sent back to Somerset County for a new hearing “to comprehensively explain the reasons for sentence,” the appeals court decision states.

Neither the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office nor Locane-Bovenizer’s attorneys have responded to the reports.
