Alexander Skarsgård, star of HBO’s sexy vampire drama True Blood, dishes on his castmates, growing up with a famous father, and moving to the U.S. from his native Sweden.

Skarsgård, 34, addressed the question of what it’s like filming love scenes with Anna Paquin, who is married to costar Stephen Moyer. "It's really clear to Steve and to everybody else what the deal is—which is that Anna is like a sister to me, he told GQ. "Those love scenes take quite a bit of acting, actually. A lot of acting."

With his convincing American accent (Battleship director Peter Berg hired him without realizing he was foreign), Skarsgård fits right into the Hollywood scene. Though he still misses his life and family in Sweden, whom he visits often, there are things he appreciates about American culture.

"You walk into the coffee shop, and the girl asks how your day is,” he said. “When I first moved here, I loved that. I know it's shallow and superficial and she doesn't give a f*** about my day, but I still like it."

Unbeknownst to most Americans, Skarsgård’s father, Stellan Skarsgård, is one of Sweden’s biggest movie stars, which makes Skarsgård’s career choice a notable one, since he and his six siblings grew up under the spotlight. The two even filmed a movie together, Melancholia, with Kirsten Dunst, Kieffer Sutherland, and Charlotte Gainsbourg, that premiered at Cannes. “I don't think I came to acting to compete with my father. But, you know, he wasn't around as much as normal dads, and seeing his passion… Maybe it was a way to get his attention."

Stellen even commented about his sons. "Of course I'm threatened," he said. "They're younger, they're better-looking, and they're all trying to kill me."
