"We have a progress report and it's extremely favorable," Judge Patricia Schnegg said. "That's excellent." Miley Cyrus: I Hate Vampires
Miley Cyrus doesn't have Twilight fever – in fact she never even saw the first movie. "I've never seen it and nor will I ever," Miley tells Cleveland's Q92 radio. "I don't believe in it. I don't like vampires. I don't like the wolf that pops out of the screen when I'm watching my TV at night. I don't like it. I don't want anything to do with it. I don't like the shirts. I don't like any of it." (Photo: WENN)
U BLOG: Robert Pattinson Really Gets Into Character
by Audrey Szepinski
A recent interview with USA Weekend magazine revealed that Robert Pattinson doesn't really mind that many fans don't seem to differentiate between him and his Twilight character, Edward Cullen. "If you want to compete with your own character, you have to really fight. I don't know if I could be bothered to fight," said Pattinson. "I just let it go by."
If 23-year-old Pattinson ever wants to become a more serious actor (not that Twilight isn't a very noble endeavor), letting himself become interchangeable with Edward Cullen the vampire probably isn't the wisest move. Of course, many teenage heartthrobs have risen above their own iconography before--think of Leo DiCaprio going from Titanic to The Departed. DiCaprio, however, isn't internationally associated with a ravenous vampire baby and a hairstyle almost as unforgettable as the sex scene that produced said baby.
On the other hand, I can see why Pattinson might consider remaining Edward Cullen forever. Twilight is already real enough to a lot of people--during the frenzy surrounding the release of the first Twilight film, a cluster of posts of Textfromlastnight.com and Fmylife.com were made by disgruntled ex-boyfriends whose former girlfriends had left them in search of someone "more like Edward."
Women everywhere want an Edward Cullen romance all of their own. Not only was Pattinson physically beautiful to begin with (I have a friend who takes extensive pride in the fact that she is one of the "original" Robert Pattinson fans, having fallen in love with him during his Cedric Diggory years), he can now lay claim to all of the myriad unique attractions possessed by his alter ego. Edward is mysterious and brooding, detached and misunderstood. He has super strength and super speed. He is the hottest boy in school--maybe even in all of Washington State! He has a deliciously pale complexion. He also sparkles in the sunlight, unlike any of us mere mortals. And speaking of mortals, Edward isn't one.
Again, though, Pattinson should take care. Being Edward isn't all fun and games. Millions of women have been forewarned that Edward is dangerous to be around, what with the bloodlust and the werewolf enemies and all. He might experience some difficulty in getting a date. He's immortal, so he could keep popping up for the rest of one's life after a bad breakup. And although trysting with a vampire might sound exciting at first, nobody with any self-respect really wants to be strung around like Bella.
Obviously, few people are going to take the Pattinson-Cullen link *that* seriously. If there is any practical danger in Pattinson not bothering to distance himself from Edward the vampire, it lies in the possible repercussions for the rest of his career. It's going to be difficult to shake the image anyway, given Twilight's immense popularity. Perhaps the best that Cullen--I mean, Pattinson--can do is make sure to think up an even more memorable hairstyle for his next role.
