The scary, zombie theme and iconic dance moves secured the video a place in music and film history. It was the first music video to be inducted into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

Directed by John Landis (Animal House), the video had a $500,000 budget, making it the most expensive music video of its time. Jackson reportedly wanted to release a re-vamped version to go along with his ‘This Is It’ tour before he died and Landis has been working on the project for months.

“The iconic video has never been released on Blu-ray or seen in cinemas and 3-D, and that was always a vision Michael had. In fact, his ‘This Is It’ London show was meant to feature a segment which included a 3-D performance,” a source told the New York Daily News.

Jackson Estate And John Landis Settle Lawsuit

While both Jackson’s estate and Landis both wanted the video to be re-released, the two parties were involved in a lawsuit regarding “Thriller” profits. Landis and producer George Folsey Jr., sued Optimum Productions, Jackson’s company, claiming they were still owed profits from the video. The two parties reached a settlement in 2012, paving the way for a future 3-D release.

While Landis confirmed that a 3-D version of “Thriller” will be released, he refused to reveal what other changes fans might expect from the video, saying, “It is going to reappear in a highly polished and three-dimensional way that is very exciting on the big screen… I cannot tell you more. I might have to kill you.”
Tue, 30 Sep 2014 00:00:00 -0400http://uinterview.com/feed/2p7ifii6nmu/1gpea8mpjhoh/1gpea8mpjhoh/gcp8sje6wrcc0/7t6jv1w12nk8s8/msl56re6n/1pembh1iw86f7/23us3vh3qp2/dacfnmsbnu8ss/j45icbweog9w/clwqtk1c9vf/23kenpxj8uisckHeather Locklear Diet: Helps Actress Look Better Than Ever On 53rd Birthdayhttp://uinterview.com/news/heather-locklear-diet-helps-actress-look-better-than-ever-on-53rd-birthday-13092

Heather Locklear turned 53 last week, and the Melrose Place actress looks better than ever thanks to regular work outs and and diet that features portion control.

Locklear, who celebrated her birthday on Sept. 25, and was spotted looking fit and having fun, playing a game of tennis. It’s no surprise Locklear, who currently stars on TNT’s Franklin & Bash, was photographed working out on her birthday.

“Exercise plays a huge part in that [sustaining a positive outlook], especially cardio. I also love to play golf and tennis. Even a walk in the evening can take the edge off a bad day,” Locklear told Parade in January.

In that same interview, Locklear also dished on how music and workout buddies help get her motivated to go to the gym, and how she makes sure her diet is in keeping with her active lifestyle. “I use portion control and try to keep it healthy 80 percent of the time. I don’t deny myself carbs or sweets. I just make every effort to keep it within reason,” Locklear said.

As to how to look as ageless as Locklear, the actress admitted that she can’t take all the credit for her ability to age gracefully. “Good genes to start off with [slow the aging process]. Then taking care of what you’ve got: sunscreen, exercise, diet, water and being happy and content,” Locklear said.

Whatever Locklear is doing, people agree it’s working for her. Kirby’s illustrations created and shaped some of the most famous Marvel characters, from the X-Men to the Fantastic Four and the Avengers.

Marvel has gone on to make millions off these characters, and their likeness, with blockbuster films and massive marketing deals, but Kirby’s heirs have not seen any profits because Kirby was technically a freelance artist. Moreover, Kirby worked with Marvel from 1958 to 1963, when copyright and credit for comics was relatively loose. Kirby was famously disrespected by Marvel, who refused to grant him any real ownership of his characters or and a majority of his artwork when he was still living.

In 2009, after Disney bought Marvel for $4 million, Kirby’s surviving family hired attorney Marc Toberoff and filed copyright claims for a variety of famous characters. Marvel claimed that Kirby had no right to the characters as a freelancer, and the courts have sided with Marvel thus far. Most recently, the case was meant to be heard in front of the Supreme Court. Marvel settled with the family before a court hearing could be held.

“Marvel and the family of Jack Kirby have amicably resolved their legal disputes, and are looking forward to advancing their shared goal of honoring Mr. Kirby’s significant role in Marvel’s history,” Marvel and Kirby’s estate said in a joint statement.

The exact nature of the settlement remains unknown.

Tue, 30 Sep 2014 00:00:00 -0400http://uinterview.com/feed/2p7ifii6nmu/1gpea8mpjhoh/1gpea8mpjhoh/gcp8sje6wrcc0/7t6jv1w12nk8s8/msl56re6n/1pembh1iw86f7/23us3vh3qp2/dacfnmsbnu8ss/j45icbweog9w/clwqtk1c9vf/5526z20cbbgooAnne Hathaway Says Fame 'F--ked Me Up'http://uinterview.com/news/anne-hathaway-says-fame-f-ked-me-up-13089

Anne Hathaway, the Oscar-winning actress, recently admitted that achieving fame was a difficult experience for her.

Anne Hathaway On Fame

"This fame thing? And people would say, 'You just have to be yourself,' and I was like, 'But I don't know who that is yet!'"

The media attention on Hathaway reached an all-time high following her performance as Fantine in Tom Hooper's Les Miserables. Though Hathaway earned an Oscar for the performance, she also received a fair amount of criticism – which mostly consisted of personal attacks that had little to do with her acting chops. A couple years removed from the worst of it, Hathaway says she’s no longer troubled by others’ perceptions.

"I've realized that don't need validation from anybody. At all," she told the interviewer. "I'm not sitting here now worrying, 'What do you think of me?' With all due respect, you seem like a lovely lady, but I don't need you, or anyone else, to like me. And that's so liberating. It's a big relief, man."

After a quiet 2013, Hathaway will be returning to the silver screen in a big way in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar opposite Matthew McConaughey. While Hathaway previously worked with Nolan in The Dark Night Rises, this was her first experience working with the ever-philosophical McConaughey.

"The man speaks in poetry," she says of McConaughey. While Rose pays homage to the pre-hippie 60s era, her music and accompanying stylistic act is modern.

“The performances are stylized, but I'm not a pastiche act, so it's not like going to see a '60s act, like Hairspray on Broadway,” Rose told uInterview exclusively. “I'm a here-and-now performer influenced by that era, but really performing in the here and now.”

“The '60s – that I'm referencing – was before, like, everyone dropping acid; it was sort of the Camelot/Rat Pack '60s,” Rose explained. “That was just a gay old martini time, so it was just a great time to be stylized.”

For her "Trouble in Paradise" music video, Rose recruited the help of popular New York drag queens Hedda Lettuce, Paige Turner and Ivy Winters. “I learned so much from them, they are so fun, so talented, and they really represented the theme of the song and that is that nothing is as it seems.”

What was one of the things Rose learned from the famed drag queens? He kicked off his performance with a sweet whistle, before launching into the song. Blake was the first to turn around, and for a while it looked like he would get John on his team by default, but then Gwen turned around, soon followed by Pharrell. John told the coaches he saw himself writing “cheesy love songs,” prompting Gwen to wave her hands in the air and say, “That’s me!” In the end, Blake’s early turn won John over. John Martin: Team Blake.

Jessie Pitts, a college student who sings with a rasp and a slight country twang, sang “The Story” and got Gwen and Blake to turn around almost immediately. Blake pulled at the heartstrings, telling Jessie that “The Story” was his wedding song, and told her she was like a marshmallow-only bowl of Lucky Charms. In the end, Jessie decided to go with “Girl Power!” and received a sparkly Team Gwen t-shirt.

Ricky Manning sang “Love Me Again” and, while his first verse caught the attention of the coaches Blake and Pharrell, both men waited until hearing a bit more of Ricky’s performance before pressing their buttons and turning their chairs. Pharrell gave a passionate pitch, saying, “I heard a guy who knew that it was his moment…You’re gonna kill it.” Pharrell’s nice-guy routine continued, when he told Ricky that Blake would no doubt be a good coach to him too. Ricky joined Team Pharrell, proving nice guys don’t always finish last.

Kelli Douglas, a single mother and former middle school teacher, brought her young son to her audtion. “I like my mommy because she’s a good singer and she has a great voice. I love her more than anything,” her son, Alex, said. Adam turned first, followed later by Gwen and Blake. By the end of her performance Kelli was so overwhelmed with emotion, she almost started to cry. Adam immediately launched into the charm, commending her for delivering a superb performance through her nerves. Adam won Kelli over, earning his first artist of the night.

Blessing Offfor, a blind man from New York City, says he learned everything he knows about songwriting during the time he spent in Nashville. Before his audition, Blessing said that, though he sings soul, he’d love to land on Team Blake. Blessing performed “Just the Two of Us” sitting at a piano, and was on his final riff when all four judges turned around. The coaches fought hard for him, and Blessing surprised Pharrell when he chose to be on his team. Blake was bummed, but admitted that Pharrell and Blessing were a perfect match.

Troy Ritchie, a self-described entertainer who can do a decent Stewie Griffin auditioned with “Out of My League.” Gwen was the first and only coach to turn around for Troy, telling him she wanted more boys on her team.

Mia Pfirrman, the daughter of performers, auditioned with “Unconditionally.” She got all four coaches to turn around. Adam told her that, while her performance wasn’t perfect, there were moments that were so spectacular, he just couldn’t let her slip away. Adam lobbied hard and won Mia over. Mia: Team Adam.

In a quick montage, Alessandra Castronovo won a spot on Team Adam, Jordy Searcy went to Pharrell and Kensington Moore landed on Team Blake with a countrified version of “Love Runs Out.”

Bree Fondacaro auditioned with “It Ain’t Me Babe,” and got Blake to turn around. Gwen told Bree that she was very close to turning her chair, but in the end, chose to let Blake take her. Bree: Team Blake.

Anita Antoinette originally auditioned in Season 3, years ago, and was told by the judges that she needed to work on her emotion and come back. Since then, Anita says she has barely performed due to bad stage fright, but has finally returned to prove herself on the Voice stage. This time around, she barely got two words out before Gwen and Blake both pressed their buttons. Adam and Pharrell followed quickly, and both gave Anita the hard sell, with Adam swearing up and down he would never send her home, despite Gwen’s insistence that, should she not pick Team Gwen, Gwen would steal her at the first chance she got. Gwen and Anita bonded over their love of reggae and desire to mix genres, and Anita joined Team Gwen!

The Voice blind auditions continue Tuesday at 8 p.m. on NBC.
Tue, 30 Sep 2014 00:00:00 -0400http://uinterview.com/feed/2p7ifii6nmu/1gpea8mpjhoh/1gpea8mpjhoh/gcp8sje6wrcc0/7t6jv1w12nk8s8/msl56re6n/1pembh1iw86f7/23us3vh3qp2/dacfnmsbnu8ss/j45icbweog9w/clwqtk1c9vf/2zuj25pib0Simon Pegg & Peter Chelsom Talk 'Hector & The Search For Happiness,' Robin Williams [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]http://uinterview.com/news/simon-pegg-and-peter-chelsom-talk-hector-and-the-search-for-happiness-robin-williams-exclusive-video-13082

Simon Pegg stars in the Peter Chelsom-directed feature film Hector and the Search for Happiness in which he plays the titular troubled character.

Hector and the Search for Happiness

In Hector and the Search for Happiness, Pegg's character Hector, who makes a living as a psychiatrist, realizes he's no happier than the people he's treating. Despite his financial stability and loving relationshipo with his girlfriend Clara (Rosamund Pike), Hector feels that he's yet to achieve true happiness and that he's a bit of a fraud.

Pegg, who can relate to Hector's sense of ennui, believes the movie tells the story of an all-too-common reality that's a product of modern society. "There are people in the world who have a far harder time than sort of, the middle classes, but I think that the key thing in this story was to pick a seemingly ok person, someone who should be ok, cause it teaches us, I think, that everyone is susceptible to not being happy," Pegg told uInterview exclusively. "And yeah, I felt that a little bit. The trouble is we've got so much choice these days, we've got... it sounds so esoteric, it's what Twitter calls a first world problem."

Seeking true happiness, Hector takes off on a journey of self-discovery. Hoping to gain knowledge and insight from the world's varied cultures, he travels to myriad places in which Pegg and Chelsom were happy to shoot. Of all of the exotic locales, the duo shared the same favorite destination – Bavaria. Their experience there was duly memorable because of a snowfall that transformed the already magical location.

"I have to say that, one of my favorite memories was in the mountains of Bavaria when the snow fell literally that much [gestures] the night before, a record snowfall in October, and it gave us this incredible snowscape that I had been looking for," said Chelsom. "The film just opened up to another limit, and it was, you know, it was an unbelievable moment."

Pegg added, "I woke up and it was like waking up in a Christmas card. It snowed so much as Peter said, the town was all like chocolate blocks-beautiful anyway, and we woke up and it snowed and I felt like I had lived in a Christmas card."

Simon Pegg On Robin Williams

Though Hector and the Search for Happiness has its comedic moments, the darker core of the movie – and Hector in particular – is a sense of dissatifaction with life despite what appears to be an almost enviable situation. The parallels between Hector's struggle and the recent passing of Robin Williams are unavoidable for Pegg, who counts the late comedian as a primary idol.

"It's a great loss. To everyone it's a great loss, but, if it can teach us one thing it's that fame and money don't mean a damn thing, you know," Pegg told uInterview. "People are often, in this current society, in this sort of celebrity-obsessed, aspirational society, think, 'Oh yeah, that's the key. If I can just get that or if I can look at these people that have that and envy them or...' And really, it doesn't matter that much. It can, it can, I guess money can put a salve on things; it can help you distract yourself from being depressed with various self-medications like money and clothes or whatever. Ultimately, you know, happiness comes from somewhere deeper and is more pervasive and more complex, and I think it is such a shame. I loved him dearly, and it's a terrible thing."

Hector and the Search for Happiness, rated R, is currently in theaters.

Tue, 30 Sep 2014 00:00:00 -0400http://uinterview.com/feed/2p7ifii6nmu/1gpea8mpjhoh/1gpea8mpjhoh/gcp8sje6wrcc0/7t6jv1w12nk8s8/msl56re6n/1pembh1iw86f7/23us3vh3qp2/dacfnmsbnu8ss/j45icbweog9w/clwqtk1c9vf/7q1vehceglk4gJessa Duggar Compares Abortion To Holocaust After Visiting D.C. Museumhttp://uinterview.com/news/jessa-duggar-compares-abortion-to-holocaust-after-visiting-dc-museum-13080

Jessa Duggar, the 21-year-old Duggar daughter who stars on 19 Kids and Counting, equated abortion to the Holocaust in a recent Instagram post.

Jessa Duggar Visits Holocaust Museum

Duggar and her fiancé Ben Seewald paid a visit to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 25. After the trip, Duggar took to Instagram to reflect on her experience.

"I walked through the Holocaust Museum again today... very sobering," Duggar wrote. "Millions of innocents denied the most basic and fundamental of all rights—their right to life. One human destroying the life of another deemed 'less than human.' Racism, stemming from the evolutionary idea that man came from something less than human; that some people groups are 'more evolved' and others 'less evolved.'"

Duggar Equates Abortion To Holocaust

While at the Holocaust Museum, Duggar connected the genocide that took the lives of roughly six million Jews and 11 million individuals overall to abortion.

"A denying that our Creator—GOD—made us human from the beginning, all of ONE BLOOD and ONE RACE, descendants of Adam. The belief that some human beings are 'not fit to live.' So they're murdered. Slaughtered," wrote Duggar. "Kids with Down syndrome or other disabilities. The sickly. The elderly," the engaged TV star wrote in the caption. "The sanctity of human life varies not in sickness or health, poverty or wealth, elderly or pre-born, little or lots of melanin [making you darker or lighter skinned], or any other factor."

Duggar went on to quote Proverbs 24:10-12: "'If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not He that pondereth the heart consider it? and He that keepeth thy soul, doth not He know it? and shall not He render to every man according to his works?'"

The engaged reality TV star concluded her statement by hoping that another holocaust does not occur, hashtagging her post #ProLife. "May we never sit idly by and allow such an atrocity to happen again," she wrote. "Not this generation. We must be a voice for those who cannot speak up for themselves. Because EVERY LIFE IS PRECIOUS. #ProLife."

While Jessa might be the most recent member of the Duggar family to emerge from the Holocaust Museum connecting the atrocities on display therein with abortion, she is not the first. Last year, Jessa's mother Michelle Duggar conveyed a similar takeaway on her blog. "A couple of weeks after we went to the Holocaust Museum It dawned on us that there is a holocaust taking place right here in America!," wrote the Duggar matriarch. "More than 56 million lives have been destroyed in our country! That is over 4,000 babies being killed and 4,000 women being wounded each day!"

Jessa Duggar's husband-to-be is also ardently pro-life. The 19-year-old Christian frequently posts about the cause on his Facebook page.
Tue, 30 Sep 2014 00:00:00 -0400http://uinterview.com/feed/2p7ifii6nmu/1gpea8mpjhoh/1gpea8mpjhoh/gcp8sje6wrcc0/7t6jv1w12nk8s8/msl56re6n/1pembh1iw86f7/23us3vh3qp2/dacfnmsbnu8ss/j45icbweog9w/clwqtk1c9vf/2d1jjreu83okskckAretha Franklin Accused Of Using Auto-Tune On Cover Of Adele's "Rolling In The Deep"http://uinterview.com/news/aretha-franklin-accused-of-using-auto-tune-on-cover-of-adeles-rolling-in-the-deep-13079

Aretha Franklin released her cover of Adele’s hit “Rolling in the Deep” on her new album Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics, and she performed the track live on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Aretha Franklin Auto-Tune In "Rolling In The Deep"?

Franklin’s cover of “Rolling in the Deep” is the first single off her new album. While he’s with Kaplan, he gets a call from Henrik who alerts him to a Warsaw bank robbery and that he knows what the attempted robbers were after. Seeming slightly off his game, Red notices that one of the men he thought he’d killed is stirring and shoots him dead.

Meanwhile, Naomi is still with Berlin (Peter Stormare), trying to ensure her safety by claiming that Red no longer cares enough about her to try and rescue her. Berlin, unconvinced, smarmily compliments Naomi’s mouth.

On a visit with Red, Liz (Megan Boone) asks about his daughter Jennifer, whom Red says disappeared from witness protection several years ago. Now, neither he nor anyone else knows where she is. Red moves the conversation towards the bank robbery in Warsaw. He explains to Liz that the bank’s ledger, which contained information on a number of illegal and questionable deals was taken. After Liz leaves, Red gets a parcel with a bloody tooth from Berlin.

Liz & Ressler Search For 'The Formula'

Going off Red’s leads, Liz and Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) take off to Warsaw – under the watchful eye of Mossad agent Samar (Mozhan Marnò). Upon their arrival in Warsaw, they're briefed by local agent Salerno, who takes them to meet with a bank executive. The bank exec, Strickland, informs them that $400,000 in bearer bonds were stolen and later learns that The Formula is missing as well.

From security footage, it’s revealed that the handful of burglars came out with a sixth person – a woman. Their next clue is a jelly doughnut found with the getaway car. The doughnut clue leads Red to Warsaw, where he hits up a local bakery. As it turns out, the bakery doubles as a gun dealer and Red wants to know who the baker has been selling to. Meanwhile, Liz and Ressler find the woman in the security footage, a bank employee named Kaja, who claims she was actually trying to escape the bank.

Kaja is The Formula. Her memory allows her to remember all of the transactions without anything ever needing to be written down. While Kaja is explaining this to Ressler, Salerno tries to take Kaja, but Liz and Ressler flee with her with Samar’s help. Just when it looks like they’re about to be caught, Red creates a diversion that allows them to make an escape on a train.

Berlin Pressures Strickland, Treats With Red

Berlin, who had assets at the bank, threatens Strickland that if he messes up, he’ll soon meet a slow and painful end. Naomi makes a getaway attempt, stabbing one of the guards with a chicken bone. Unfortunately, she finds all of the doors and windows are locked and she’s eventually discovered by Berlin, who intends to torture her.

It looks like Kaja may very well die of a gunshot wound on the train when Red hops on and takes her away, promising to save her. Red is then seen meeting with Berlin in Coney Island. He warns him of the dangers of seeking revenge and claims that they have a common enemy in the man who told Berlin that Red killed his daughter. If Berlin releases Naomi, Red promises to give him his money.

After taking Kaja, Red was able to access Berlin’s accounts and transferred the money into a new private account. Unless Berlin complies with Red’s request, he’ll never get ahold of his fortune again. Berlin accepts the deal, but informs Red that he has a fatal flaw in his obsession with Elizabeth Keen.

In the meantime, Keen has tracked down Kaja and learns about Red’s plan to give Berlin back his money. She adamantly disagrees with Red allowing Berlin’s terrorist activity to remain funded just to save the life of one person, his ex-wife. Fortunately for Red, the millions of dollars do end up getting placed into Berlin’s account and he’s able to get Naomi back. Liz explains that the only reason why the deal was allowed to go through was because of his value as an asset.

Who Is Samar?

Director Cooper (Harry Lennix) eventually becomes aware through Kaja that the Red operation is funded through FBI bank accounts kept at the Warsaw bank. He then meets with Samar, who hands him over a file in exchange for an undisclosed favor. Samar then phones Red, telling him she’s “in.”

The Blacklist airs Mondays on NBC at 10/9c.
Tue, 30 Sep 2014 00:00:00 -0400http://uinterview.com/feed/2p7ifii6nmu/1gpea8mpjhoh/1gpea8mpjhoh/gcp8sje6wrcc0/7t6jv1w12nk8s8/msl56re6n/1pembh1iw86f7/23us3vh3qp2/dacfnmsbnu8ss/j45icbweog9w/clwqtk1c9vf/mkpoo19mt2s8gks8'Dancing With The Stars' Recap: Janel Parrish & Bethany Mota Earn Perfect 10s; Randy Couture Eliminatedhttp://uinterview.com/news/dancing-with-the-stars-recap-janel-parrish-and-bethany-mota-earn-perfect-10s-randy-couture-eliminated-13077

Dancing with the Stars returned Monday with Movie Night, in which actor Kevin Hart took over Len Goodman’s seat on the judges’ panel. Not only were the celebrities dancing movie-themed dances, but they were on high alert about whether or not they would be the second one going home from last Monday's routines.

Dancing with the Stars Recap

After finding out that they were one of the pairs in jeopardy, Randy Couture and Karina Smirnoff took on the season’s first Paso Doble. Going with a Rocky theme, Karina choreographed an intense routine. Unfortunately, Randy’s biggest cheers came when he merely struck a pose – not when he was clumsily attempting to execute the dance moves. Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli found little to like about the performance. Scores: 7+7+6+6=26

Alfonso Riberio, eager to prove he can master ballroom dancing, did a quickstep, which was oddly given an Austin Powers theme. While Alfonso still brought his individuality to the dance, he managed to stick more with the technique as far as his footwork and frame were concerned. While the judges still think he’s a frontrunner, they want him to continue honing his technique. Scores: 8+8+8+8=36

Betsey Johnson and Tony Dovolani performed a contemporary routine channeling Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze in Ghost. Betsey continued to prove that age is just a number, going into an impressive split following a lift. While the performance was commendable, the judges – except for Kevin Hart – weren’t overly impressed. Scores: 7+9+6+7 = 29

As could be expected, the Back to the Future prom served as the backdrop for Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvintsev’s cha cha. The gimmick even included the pair arriving to the show via a DeLorean. Despite the crowd-pleasing Back to the Future theme, Lea’s third dance on the show was unfortunately her worst to date. Scores: 7+8+8+8 = 31.

Taking on a waltz this week, Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater took their inspiration from Robin Hood. In order to bring out the best from Michael, Emma attempted to slow down and simplify the ballroom dance. The strategy worked, as the judges concluded it was the best they’ve seen from the former NASCAR star. Scores: 7+7+7+7=28

Antonio Sabato, Jr. and Cheryl Burke, who have been finding it difficult to get along during rehearsals, danced a foxtrot with a Guardians of the Galaxy theme. Considering the light-hearted tone of the film, the foxtrot routine could have gone in a more fun and energetic direction. However, Burke’s choreography, which Antonio executed well, proved rather boring. Scores: 7+7+7+8=20

Sadie Robertson, who was somewhat indignant about her scores and critiques from last week, was determined to prove her skills this week in her Viennese Waltz with Mark Ballas. Paying homage to Pixar’s Up, the routine included balloons and some smooth dancing. While Sadie is a natural dancer, her personality is still struggling to come through. Scores: 8+8+8+8=32

Jonathan Bennett and Allison Holker, upon learning that they’re in danger of elimination, danced a Great Gatsby-themed Tango. After getting some Dancing with the Stars choreography advice from Mark Ballas, Allison gave the dance a bit more of a sensual feel. Though the judges told the Mean Girls star to improve his frame, they did think he did a good job getting into the song. Scores: 8+8+8+8=32

Dancing to “America” from West Side Story was Janel Parrish and her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy. While learning that he wasn’t able to include moves from the hit musical movie into the dance caused a hiccup in Val’s plans, he still managed to choreograph a captivating jazz routine complete with a troupe of backup dancers. The judges loved the energy and creativity of the performance. Scores: 10+10+10+10=40

Following Janel and Val’s masterful performance was Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd, who danced a Scent of a Woman-themed Argentine Tango. Once again, Tommy proved that he’s a genuine contender despite many – including his pal Cheech – doubting his abilities. The judges praised the funny man’s poise on the dance floor. Scores: 8+10+8+8=34

Derek Hough choreographed a jazz routine that channeled Singin’ in the Rain for Bethany Mota. Hough, an admitted admirer of Gene Kelly, went all in on the preparation and production of the number. As a result, he really shined during the performance, while Bethany ended up being more or less of a prop. Despite Bethany’s limited contribution to the dance, the judges praised the performance. Scores: 10+10+10+10=40

In the bottom three after Tavis Smiley’s elimination last week were Randy, Antonio and Jonathan. In the end, it was Randy and Karina who had to say goodbye to the competition.

Dancing with the Stars returns next week with the “Most Memorable Year” theme.

Tue, 30 Sep 2014 00:00:00 -0400http://uinterview.com/feed/2p7ifii6nmu/1gpea8mpjhoh/1gpea8mpjhoh/gcp8sje6wrcc0/7t6jv1w12nk8s8/msl56re6n/1pembh1iw86f7/23us3vh3qp2/dacfnmsbnu8ss/j45icbweog9w/clwqtk1c9vf/u8swri01fxckgkBank Robbery Suspect Michael Whitington Has The Happiest Mug Shot Everhttp://uinterview.com/news/bank-robbery-suspect-michael-whitington-has-the-happiest-mug-shot-ever-13076

Michael Whitington, a 45-year-old Denver man, has what’s being called the ‘happiest mug shot ever.’ Whitington was arrested on Sept. 23 when police say he robbed a bank right before closing on Denver's 16th Street pedestrian mall and then tried to escape on a light-rail train. The New York Comic Con takes place from Oct. 9-12 at the Jacob Javits Center, and the stamps will be released to coincide with these dates.

Batman Stamp

There will be a four stamps in total—each one commemorating a different look and era. The first is the Golden Age design (based on the Bill Finger and Bob Kane original), the second is the Adam West inspired Silver Age, the Jim Aparo and Neal Adams influence in the Bronze Age, and the Jim Lee design in the Modern Age.

“He is the quintessential American superhero,” said Susan McGowan, the Postal Service’s director of stamp services and corporate licensing. “What a great place to celebrate him—on a stamp. We are always looking for ideas and subjects that are important to America. We all quickly thought, ‘Wow! This will be thrilling.’”

The Postal Service have published a number special collections before. Over the years they’ve released stamps for The Simpsons, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, Elvis Presley, and Superman.

Batman’s Birthday

While in-universe, Batman/Bruce Wayne’s birthday is established as having birthdays in February, April, May, June, July, October and November. However, fans were first introduced to Batman in Detective Comics #27; his first adventure ran eight pages. The art was handled by Batman-concept creator Bob Kane, while Bill Finger—who developed the concept and did the writing—handled the eight page story. The original comic was published on March 30, 1939.

2014 has been described by DC Comics as Batman’s year, given his 75th birthday (which means Robin will be 75 in 2015). So far this year, Batman has been announced to appear in the Zack Snyder Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and will be played by Ben Affleck. Several animated shorts have been released by famed artists Bruce W. Timm and Darwyn Cooke, a new series called Gotham premiered featuring a young Bruce Wayne dealing from the immediate fallout of his parents’ murder, released special editions of the Adam West series, multiple new comic titles, and two full-length animated features—Son of Batman and Assault on Arkham (which is based on the popular Arkham video game series). A 25th anniversary of the Tim Burton 1989 Batman feature is also scheduled for release later this year.

“Batman is one of the greatest characters ever created, in comics or elsewhere, and even after 75 years he continues to wildly fascinate fans,” said Diane Nelson, DC Entertainment president and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president and COO. “He is an integral part of pop culture and has successfully captured the imagination of the entire world. The origin of Batman, Bruce Wayne and the famous citizens of Gotham are legendary and likely a story you know inside out, even if you’ve never picked up a comic book in your life, and that speaks volumes to the character’s immense popularity and the constructs of the original mythology.”
Mon, 29 Sep 2014 00:00:00 -0400http://uinterview.com/feed/2p7ifii6nmu/1gpea8mpjhoh/1gpea8mpjhoh/gcp8sje6wrcc0/7t6jv1w12nk8s8/msl56re6n/1pembh1iw86f7/23us3vh3qp2/dacfnmsbnu8ss/j45icbweog9w/clwqtk1c9vf/1gdux6zbkkb3hNew On Netflix: Adds 'Gilmore Girls,' 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' And More To Streaming This Octoberhttp://uinterview.com/news/new-on-netflix-adds-gilmore-girls-the-hunger-games-catching-fire-and-more-to-streaming-this-october-13074

The complete Gilmore Girls series will be available for streaming on Netflix Instant Watch beginning Oct.1, but there are also plenty of other shows and movies coming to Netflix in October.

Gilmore Girls, starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, ran for seven seasons on The WB and The CW from 2000-2007, and the beloved mother-daughter show also featured Melissa McCarthy (pre-Bridesmaids fame) and The Good Wife's Matt Czuchry.

New On Netflix

In other TV news, fans of The CW’s The Originals and The Vampire Diaries will be able to get caught up before the shows’ season premieres. Nolen allegedly beheaded Hufford with a knife before turning his anger on Traci Johnson, 43, attacking her with the knife before CEO Mark Vaughan, a reserve deputy with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, shot and apprehended Nolen. Johnson is currently hospitalized and is reportedly in stable condition.

Nolen, who is also in a hospital, receiving treatment for his gunshot wounds, reportedly told officers that he was unhappy at work, and had been especially disappointed when he didn’t get a raise this past year. It is unclear whether or not he maintains his innocence in this case.

A convicted felon, Nolen was last arrested in 2011 and convicted on charges of drugs, resisting arrest and escape. His Facebook page, on which he went by the name Jah’Keem Yisrael, indicates that he recently converted to Islam, and got in trouble with his employer for attempting to convert co-workers. There is no evidence that Nolen planned any sort of attack or the beheading, and law enforcement officials do not believe he expressed any sympathy towards terrorist group ISIS.

Nolen frequented an Oklahoma City mosque, and now community leaders are worried about possible retaliation. “It’s very unfortunate that this thing happened because people are going to look at this and draw parallels between it and what happens overseas. Kirk in the '60s TV series, will make a cameo in the third Star Trek movie in the big screen franchise. While Shatner initially shut down speculation on Twitter, he eventually decided to address and explain the reason behind the persistent rumors.

Let's talk ST. I don't know anything about the current gossip. Nobody has contacted me. Right now it's just rhetoric to cause hype.
— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) September 23, 2014

Apparently, J.J. Abrams, who directed the first two films and will serve as a producer for the third, contacted Shatner, revealing that helmer Roberto Orci was looking to involve him in the film. "I said, 'Oh, yeah. If it is meaningful, because when Leonard was Spock...in that first movie, I said to Leonard, 'You know your role, when you go back in time and you're still old,'" Shatner said at the 2014 Wizard World Nashville Comic Con. "So, it depends on what you do with the character, I'd be delighted."

"They might want Leonard and myself but I don't know what to do with it," Shatner told the fans. "How do you get me 50 years later into the movie? How do you rationalize it? I know it's science fiction, but even I couldn't come up with an idea. So that's the news on that."

Shatner was supposedly meant to appear in the first Star Trek movie in which Leonard Nimoy appeared as Spock. Though a scene was written into the script, they ultimately decided to scrap it, thinking it would look as though they were trying too hard to appease diehard fans.

"We wrote a scene for William Shatner at the end of the movie where Spock, played by Leonard, gives his young self, played by Zach Quinto, something he'd kept with him," Orci told The Hollywood Reporter in 2011. "And it was basically a recording of Kirk singing 'Happy Birthday' to him for the last time before he went off to die in Star Trek VI. J.J. had determined early on that he felt it might seem like it was, A, too small, and B, pandering to the fans a bit. But we wrote it anyway because as a fan you're always trying to protect that thing where you want to be able to look fans in the eye and say, 'We were ready.'"

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 00:00:00 -0400http://uinterview.com/feed/2p7ifii6nmu/1gpea8mpjhoh/1gpea8mpjhoh/gcp8sje6wrcc0/7t6jv1w12nk8s8/msl56re6n/1pembh1iw86f7/23us3vh3qp2/dacfnmsbnu8ss/j45icbweog9w/clwqtk1c9vf/40vpta7wpj'Family Guy' Meets 'The Simpsons' In 'The Simpsons Guy'http://uinterview.com/news/family-guy-meets-the-simpsons-in-the-simpsons-guy-13064

Family Guy and The Simpsons premiered Sunday with an epic crossover episode, “The Simpsons Guy,” and not-so-subtly discussed the differences between the two shows through arguments between Homer and Peter Griffin.

Griffins In Springfield

“The Simpsons Guy” found the Griffins stranded in Springfield and staying with the Simpsons.

As expected, not everybody from the two iconic animated families got along. Of course, “The Simpsons Guy” used the beer as a way to poke fun of how intertwined the two shows have become, with Homer saying Pawtucket Ale tasted exactly like Duff. “It may have been inspired by Duff, but I like to think that it goes in a different direction,” Peter responded.

Peter and Homer continued to make jabs at each other throughout the episode. Peter lashed out at Homer, telling him he hasn’t wanted Duff beer in 13 years, and Homer attacked Peter with Emmy’s. The entire spat ended up in court for copyright infringement.

When the two finally banded together, Homer and Peter decided to try to lure the car thief that left the Griffins stranded in Springfield with a “Free Stolen Car Wash.”

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 00:00:00 -0400http://uinterview.com/feed/2p7ifii6nmu/1gpea8mpjhoh/1gpea8mpjhoh/gcp8sje6wrcc0/7t6jv1w12nk8s8/msl56re6n/1pembh1iw86f7/23us3vh3qp2/dacfnmsbnu8ss/j45icbweog9w/clwqtk1c9vf/g02e3do9h5w0soAnthony Schlegel, Ohio State Strength Coach, Body Slams Rogue Fan At Ohio State Gamehttp://uinterview.com/news/anthony-schlegel-ohio-state-strength-coach-body-slams-rogue-fan-at-ohio-state-game-13063

Anthony Schlegel, a strength coach for the Ohio State football team, took out a fan that had run out onto the field mid-game with a body slam.

Ohio State Coach Body Slams Fan

During Ohio State’s 50-28 win over Cincinnati Saturday afternoon, a fan managed to get onto the field and started running around. During the initial sentencing trial, the jury did not come to a unanimous decision to sentence Arias to death. As a result, a second sentencing trial with a new jury had to be arranged. If the second jury also fails to unanimously decide to give Arias the death penalty, it will be up to the judge to either sentence Arias to life in prison or the opportunity for release after 25 years behind bars.

In total, at least 300 potential jurors will be called and considered to fill in a spot on the jury. Due to the high-profile nature of Arias’ case, it won’t be easy to find people who are unfamiliar, or at the very least, undecided about Arias. Since Arias’ trial saturated the media last year, those selecting jurors will be more concerned about whether or not the panelists are active court watchers or merely individuals who came across the story in their routine media consumption.

Unlike the initial trial last year, the sentencing retrial will not be broadcast live. While cameras will be recording the proceedings, the footage will not be made available until after the verdict is reached. Judge Sherry Stephens, aware of Arias’ attorney’s claims that the live broadcasts led to threats against the lawyers and their witnesses, opted to exercise caution for the retrial.

Arias was found guilty in May 2013 of first-degree murder in the slaying of Alexander in June 2008.
