'Game Of Thrones' Recap: Tyrion Marries Sansa, Dany’s Army Grows

Game of Thrones “The Honeymooners” had a narrower focus than some of the previous episodes this season, focusing almost exclusively on the storylines of Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and the young Arya Stark (Maisie Williams).

It started off in the woods with Arya awakening and wielding a large rock with which she plans to bludgeon her captor, The Hound (Rory McCann). He opens his eyes before she can strike him and says, “I'll give you one try, girl. Kill me and you're free. But if I live, I'll break both your hands." Wisely deciding not to try her luck, she drops the rock. As it turns out, The Hound doesn’t wish to harm the youngest Stark daughter. Instead, he plans to return her to her mother (Michelle Fairley) and brother Robb (Richard Madden) at her uncle's wedding to the Frey girl in exchange for a sum.

Outside the Yunkai walls, Daenerys continues to search for a way inside. The Yunkai have hired the Second Sons, a sellsword company whose numbers and capabilities would make it significantly more difficult for her to take the city. She arranges a meeting with their leader, Titan’s Bastard. Much as his moniker would seem to indicate, he’s a rude and crass individual that after comparing her to a prostitute he once knew, requests a full view of her naked body to see if she’d be worth fighting for. Daario, one of his lieutenants, already looks taken by The Dragon Queen.

When the Second Sons return to their tent, they debate the pleasures of whoring. Daario reveals himself to be opposed to paying for sex, preferring to sleep with women who want to have sex with him. He also avers that he fights only for beauty, and thus, only when he so desires. After Titan’s Bastard insists that they draw coins to decide who will slip into Dany’s camp to murder her, it’s Daario who draws the coin to kill. He arrives while Dany is bathing, and holds her translator Missandei with a knife at her throat. After they both promise not to scream, he releases her and reveals the heads of both of his superiors. Apparently, Daario was won over by her beauty and took it upon himself to pledge the Second Sons loyalty to her.

At King’s Landing, Tyrion makes a well-intentioned effort to comfort Sansa (Sophie Turner) about their pending nuptials, after sending a disgruntled Shae out of the room. "I didn't ask for this ... you won't be a prisoner after today, you will be my wife." Then he adds, "I suppose that's a different kind of prison." Meanwhile, Cersei (Lena Headey) and Margaery (Natalie Dormer) walk amiably arm-in-arm in the Sept of Baelor. Margaery, feeling unduly comfortable and confident with the steely Lannister woman, suggests that the marriages to come will make them sisters of a certain kind. After creating a horrifying parallel between the Tyrell’s and the last second-richest family to grasp for greater power, Cersei seethes, “You ever call me sister again, I’ll have you strangled in your sleep.” Margaery looks appropriately frightened.

The wedding that follows is all manners of awkwardness. First of all, the evil-veined Joffrey (Jack Gleeson), who had Sansa’s father killed, takes the role of jauntily walking her down the aisle. He then swipes Tyrion’s stool, thereby forcing him to whisper at Sansa to ask her to kneel so he could place the marriage cloak over her shoulders. At the reception that follows, Tyrion is embracing the label of a drunkard, sloshing wine about in his goblet. Tywin (Charles Dance) approaches him to remind him that he needs to put a child into Sansa, and shouldn’t be too drunk to perform.

As if it couldn’t get any worse, Joffrey, after threatening to rape Sansa when Tyrion’s asleep, declares that there must be a public bedding ceremony. Tyrion’s response? He drives a knife into the table and threatens his king nephew, shouting, “Then you’ll be f—king your own bride with a wooden c—k.“ Thankfully, Tywin is there to defuse Joffrey, and Tyrion is sensible enough to concede it was nothing by a silly joke by his impish drunk uncle who's not so well-endowed. When Tyrion and Sansa do walk off to the bedchamber, the 14-year-old begins to disrobe. It appears as though Tyrion considers obliging his father’s wishes, but the better man inside him wins out. "I won't share your bed ... not until you want me to," Tyrion says. When Shae (Sibel Kekilli) comes the next morning with breakfast and to take the sheets, she smirks when she realizes they’re clean.

Meanwhile, Stannis (Stephen Dillane) contemplates the murder of Robert’s bastard Gendry (Joe Dempsie), and allows Melisandra (Carice van Houten) to seduce the young man with food, wine and sex. After she straps him to the bed she subjects him to blood-letting by leaches. However, it appears as though the ill treatment will stop there, as a visit to Davos (Liam Cunningham) in the dungeons convinces Stannis against killing his nephew by blood. The would-be king also decides to release Davos. And, North of the Wall, the hapless Samwell (John Bradley) is put to the test when a White Walker threatens Gilly (Hannah Murray) and her baby. When his sword crumbles in the White Walker’s hands who continues on for the inbred baby, Sam chases after him with a shard of dragonglass and jabs it into the creatures back. The White Walker splinters like ice.

Game of Thrones will return Sunday, June 2 on HBO at 9/8c with its penultimate episode of the season.

‘Anchorman: The Legend Continues’ Teaser Trailer Released

Anchorman: The Legend Continues has a new teaser trailer that gives a sneak peak of the upcoming sequel to the 2004 comedy starring Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate, Vince Vaughn, David Koechner and others.

In this latest promo spot, a voice is heard saying, “Jesus. MacArthur. Jay-Z. The great ones always return. And when they do, one thing is for sure. They're hair will be perfect." And then, the infamous Ron Burgundy, alongside the rest of the cast of characters of Channel 4 News, comes on screen with a snappy sound bite about the movie.

“We haven’t seen you in awhile, America, you haven’t changed a bit,” says Burgundy. At the end of the promo, looking directly into the camera, he adds, “Hey, fat face, you! Stay classy.”

Anchorman: The Legend Continues, which is due in theaters on Dec. 20, will also star newcomers Kristen Wiig and Harrison Ford.

Texting Likely Cause Of First-Time Driver’s Fatal Accident

Savannah Nash, a 16-year-old first-time driver, was believed to have been texting when she got into a fatal accident with a tractor-trailer on Thursday, according to authorities.

Nash had asked her parents if she could drive to the local grocery store in Harrisonville, Mo., to pick up groceries for the night’s dinner. On her way to the store, she crashed her vehicle into a tractor-trailer, and died at the scene according to WAFB-TV.

She had apparently turned left into the path of the truck, according to investigators. Investigators also said that they found an unsent message on Nash’s cell phone and conjecture that it may have caused the accident, reported the Democrat- Missourian newspaper.

“There was a text message that was on her phone, however it was not sent yet,” Sgt. Bill Lowe of the Missouri state Highway Patrol told Fox4KC.com. “That is a probable contributing circumstance to the crash. That’s all part of the investigation.”

There was a vigil for Nash on Friday that took place at Harrisonville High School, where she was a freshman honor roll student.

Gillian Anderson Turned Down Role In ‘Downton Abbey’

Gillian Anderson, the X-Files actress who’s been named "Sexiest Woman Alive" by FHM magazine, turned down a role in Masterpiece Theatre hit Downton Abbey because she didn’t want to be far from her family.

"My 18-year-old cannot believe that I would turn down Game Of Thrones or Downton — things she loves to watch,” she told the Mail Online. “But if I am going to be spending that amount of time working on something I would rather be working with a director like Martin Scorsese."

Anderson stars in BBC Two drama, The Fall, as Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson. The character isn’t too much of a stretch for Anderson, who made a name for herself playing FBI Agent Dana Scully on the X-Files. Of her new law enforcement character the actress says, “If Stella finds a man attractive, she doesn’t hesitate to make the first move. I quite like that in a woman, I’ve discovered. I like the way Stella is so sexually confident but there are consequences to that, as you’ll see over the serial.

"She’s much more feminine than Scully ever was," she added.

Although Anderson has nothing but positive things to say about her new project, The Fall was almost another casualty of her selectivity. After parts in the BBC adaptation of Great Expectations and Lady Dedlock in Bleak House, she’d yet to take on a lengthy commitment since X-Files because of her children. When she saw that Prime Suspect 2 writer Allan Cubbit was behind it and had penned it with her in mind, she brokered a deal with producers that would allow her to return home each weekend during filming.

The Fall, after attracting over 3.5 million viewers in its first week, is already planning to have a sophomore season.

Stefon Marries Anderson Cooper During Bill Hader’s Final 'Saturday Night Live' Show

Bill Hader’s Stefon character, the flamboyand New York City nightlife correspondent who frequented the Weekend Update desk, rushed off to marry Anderson Cooper during the Saturday Night Live veteran's final evening on the NBC improv show.

While Stefon was chatting with Seth Meyers and the returning Amy Poehler, he got visibly exasperated. Meyers was trying to get Stefon, who had gone rogue with his time on the air, back on topic. “You know what, you don’t respect me, Seth,” he spat as he ran off the set. After seeing Meyers struggling to choke out his news commentary, Poehler suggests he follow him.

Meyers arrives at the church and screams, “Stefon!” Stefon, Cooper and all the zany characters Stefon has mentioned over the years turn around. When Cooper tries to pull his 360 move, Meyers punches him square in the face. He then grabs Stefon by the hand and they run out of the church – but not before saying “hi” to DJ Baby Bok Choy.

Hader announced last week that he would be leaving Saturday Night Live after eight-year’s on its 30 Rock stage.

David Beckham Sheds Tears At Final Home Match

David Beckham, the English-born soccer star, had tears rolling off his face as he walked off the pitch following his final home match for Paris St. Germain. Just last week, the 38-year-old announced his intention to retire from the sport.

Beckham, who was made captain of Paris Saint-Germain squad for the night, led the French Ligue 1 team to a 3-1 victory over Brest for his last game as a professional soccer player. At the 82-minute mark, Beckham was overcome with the emotion of the end of a career that lasted an incredible 847 games. As coach Carlo Ancelotti called him off the pitch, the crowd of nearly 45,000 gave him a standing ovation. On his way off, he hugged both teammates and opponents alike.

With the names of his children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper on his boots, and his wife Victoria Beckham in the stands, Beckham left the game on a high note and on his own terms. He’s won league championships with each of his four club teams – Manchester United, Real Madrid, the Los Angeles Galaxy and PSG. While playing for his country, Beckham served as captain and earned the record for the most international appearances.

"Thanks to everyone in Paris, to all of my teammates, the staff and fans," said Beckham during the post game celebrations, according to CNN.

"It's been very special to finish my career here.”

'Mad Men' Recap: A Speed Trip Reminds Don Of Miss Swenson

Man Men’s “The Crash" shows Don (Jon Hamm), Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) and the joint crew of SCDP and CGC spending a weekend together trying to come up with a new idea for the Chevy ad campaign, as all their previous efforts have been rejected. However, Don’s mind is elsewhere; he’s more concerned with trying to wrap Sylvia back into their sordid affair. When he comes back home, he finds that Sally (Kiernan Shipka) and Bobby (Jared Gilmore) were endangered by a home intruder who had claimed to be their grandmother.

Since they’ve yet to come up with an ad campaign that’s satisfied Chevy executives, SCDP/ CGC are running scared, and the Chevy big wigs' hard partying ways are endangering staff members. Ken (Aaron Staton), while schmoozing with the execs, found himself riding in a car of drunken men. The incident led him to return to the office with a cane and an injured leg. Taking things into his own hands, Jim Cutler (Harry Hamlin) invites Dr. Shelly Hecht to inject the uninspired staff with a vitamin cocktail that would give them, "24 to 72 hours of uninterrupted creative focus, energy and confidence."

And down the rabbit hole went the staff. Stan tried to hook up with Peggy, but she turned him down so he settled for Frank Gleason’s (Craig Anton) daughter Wendy. Don was tossed back to a memory of Miss Swenson, the prostitute who confused mothering with sex in the young Dick Whitman. Don realizes in step with the audience that his preoccupation with Sylvia (Linda Cardellini) comes from her resemblance to Miss Swenson, the hooker who both took care of him and took his virginity.

On Monday morning, after Don is confronted by the terror that visited his children over the weekend, and a silent elevator ride with Sylvia, whom he now knows is a toxic attraction for him, he arrives back at the office. Ted (Kevin Rahm) is displeased, because counter to what Jim had planned, nothing productive was achieved. “Half of this work is gibberish,” he spits. “Chevy is spelled wrong.” Don’s response, as it was with the home invasion and also with the realization of the root of his feelings for Sylvia, is detachment. Instead of throwing himself into devising a new ad, the great creative brain opts to sit on the sidelines, telling Ted he’s going to take an evaluative role on the campaign going forward.

Betty (January Jones), meanwhile, has transformed back to the slim beauty of seasons past. After struggling for over a year with her weight, she shed the pounds upon learning that husband Henry (Christopher Stanley) would be running for political office. All she needed was the motivation of the spotlight.

Mad Men airs Sundays on AMC at 10/9c.

Miguel Lands On Fans At Billboard Music Awards

Miguel leapt into the fans at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday during his performance of hit single “Adorn,” accidentally landing on a couple of unsuspecting young women. One of the women was struck in the head by the R&B singer’s right leg and knocked against the stage.

“Got caught up in the moment, thank goodness Khyati is okay,” Miguel tweeted afterwards about the victim of his stage leap.

Soon after the onstage incident, Miguel and Kyahti were interviewed backstage together as she held ice to her injured arm. "I'm very happy to bring my new friend, Khyati, we just met," Miguel told Billboard magazine. "Unfortunately, we did not meet under the best circumstances, but I think we're okay.”

When asked what she thought of Miguel, Kyati quipped, “I ‘Adorn’ him.”

WWE Extreme Rules: Brock Lesnar, The Shield & Dean Ambrose Win

During the WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view event on Sunday, Brock Lesnar defeated Triple H in a cage match for the main event.

Other big wins of the event included Dean Ambrose's, who won the U.S. title with his win over Kofi Kingston with a headlock driver. The tag team titles went to Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins of The Shield, who took down Team Hell No. Randy Orton, who hails from St. Louis, won against Big Show in front of his hometown.

John Cena and Ryback fought back and forth around the ring in a last man standing contest. It ended in a "no contest" despite Ryback making it back to his feet while Cena was taken off the stage by a stretcher.

Less remarkable matches included, the opener with Chris Jericho beating Fandango. Alberto Del Rio’s win over Jack Swagger and Sheamus’s besting of Mark Henry were also less satisfying WWE match-ups.

In the pre show, The Miz won against Cody Rhodes.

Billboard Music Awards: Taylor Swift Wins Big, Justin Bieber Booed

Taylor Swift dominated the 2013 Billboard Music awards, winning eight of 11 awards for which she was nominated, including top artist and top Billboard album for Red. Swift also performed during the night, taking to the stage to sing her hit “22.” When receiving one of her many awards the country pop star told the audience, “You are the longest and best relationship I ever had.”

Behind Swift for the most wins were Gotye and Rihanna, who tied for second with four awards a piece. Both Maroon 5 and fun. were nominated for 11 awards, but received only one each during the show’s pre-telecast announcements.

Justin Bieber, who performed twice during the awards show, won three awards: top male artist, social artist and the fan-voted milestone award. Beating both Swift and Bruno Mars, he took to the stage to accept the milestone award only to be met with boos from the crowd. He responded to the jeers, saying, “I'm 19 years old; I think I'm doing a pretty good job. And basically from my heart I really just want to say it should really be about the music, it should be about the craft that I'm making. This is not a gimmick," he said. "I'm an artist and I should be taken seriously and all this other bull should not be spoken."

Performances of the night included Selena Gomez singing new single “Come & Get It,” Macklemore & Ryan Lewis entertaining with “Thrift Shop,” and Chris Brown seeming to struggle through a performance of “Fine China.” Most notably, Prince, who rarely gives public performances, treated the audience with a medley of his hits while rocking out on the guitar in a flashy turquoise and purple outfit.

Miguel also had a memorable moment at the Billboard Music Awards. During his performance of "Adorn," he came up short on a leap and landed on one woman and kicked another in the audience.

Hofstra Student Andrea Rebello Killed By Police Gunfire

Hofstra student Andrea Rebello, 21, was killed by police gunfire during a standoff between authorities and a home invasion suspect, according to Nassau County, New York police spokesperson Maureen Roach.

The intruder was holding a gun to Rebello’s head in her Uniondale off-campus house on Friday when authorities fired eight shots in the direction of the suspect, reported CNN. One of those shots hit Rebello in the head and killed her, reported Roach.

The intruder, identified by authorities as Dalton Smith, 30, was also killed in the confrontation.

When the officer arrived at the scene of the home invasion, Smith had his gun held to Rebello’s head. After telling the officer he was going to kill her, he redirected his aim towards the officer. According to Roach, the officer began to fear for his life and fired. Authorities have yet to identify the officer.

Smith was wanted by authorities for jumping parole; a warrant for his arrest was issued on April 25. He had a criminal history that included robbery, assault and promoting prison contraband. Smith was currently on parole for first-degree robbery, which meant he was either armed with a deadly weapon or had caused bodily injury during or while fleeing the robbery.

Robello was a junior at Hofstra University, majoring in public relations. "Our hearts and minds and our thoughts and prayers are with her family, her friends and her classmates," the university said in a statement.

Kevin Venturi, Champion Golfer & Commentator, Dies At 82

Kevin Venturi, a longtime golf commentator who won the 1964 US. Open, died on Saturday after suffering for weeks with infections and pneumonia. He was 82.

Over the last several years, Venturi was plagued with multiple health issues. He survived prostate cancer in 2000, only to require quintuple bypass surgery in 2006. Heart problems resurfaced for the onetime golfer in 2011. Over the last few weeks, Venturi had been hospitalized at a Southern California hospital with infections in his back and intestine, in addition to pneumonia. His death was reported by his son, Matt Venturi.

At the 1964 US. Open at Congressional, the temperatures rose into the triple digits. During the 36-hole tournament, Venturi began to suffer from signs of heatstroke, and despite urgings from doctors to quit, he continued on to victory. Due to his outstanding display of drive and athleticism, he was named PGA Player of the Year and also Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year.

Shortly after his U.S Open win, Venturi was forced to retire from the green because of issues with carpal tunnel syndrome. He stayed in the world of golf by getting into broadcasting the sport for CBS. When he retired from the job in 2002, he had been commentating for 35 years, the longest of any profession broadcaster in any sport.

Venturi was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame earlier in May. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; sons Matt and Tim; and four grandchildren.

Eurovision Song Contest Won By Denmark's Emmelie de Forest

The annual Eurovision Song Contest was won by Emmelie de Forest of Denmark, whose folk-inspired ballad “Only Teardrops” trumped the song submissions from the runners up who hailed from Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

"It's fantastic. It's indescribable to win for your country," de Forest told Danish broadcaster DR upon winning. "I think this will be fantastic for me and my career."

De Forest, 20, was a favorite going into the competition, which tends to skew in the favor of the contestants from Nordic countries. Finland won in 2006, Norway in 2009 and 2011’s winning song was written by a Swedish duo. Sweden has been known to be the country that places the most emphasis on the song contest since ABBA’s win in 1974.

While many people stateside might be unfamiliar with the Eurovision Song Contest, it happens to be one of the most-watched TV events in the world. It averages around 120 million viewers, which is more than watches either the Academy Awards or Super Bowl.

Since the Danish de Forest was victorious at the Swedish-hosted 2013 Eurovision Song Contest, Denmark will have the honor of hosting the high-profiled event for the 2014 competition.

'Le Presse' Wins Raves For Restrained Drama

Le Passé (The Past), the newest film from director Asghar Farhadi, the director of the hit Iranian film A Separation, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday. Le Passé is a drama about a separated couple who reunite to finalize their divorce. The wife, played by Bérénice Bejo from the Oscar winning film The Artist, lives in France, the husband, played by Ali Mosaffa, lives in Iran.

Le Passé was well received at Cannes and has been wracking up rave reviews. “It is an intricate and often brilliant drama with restrained and intelligent performances; there is an elegantly patterned mosaic of detail, unexpected plot turns, suspenseful twists and revelations,” wrote The Guardian.

“The Past… vaults [Farhadi] securely onto world cinema’s A-list. Indeed, Farhadi may be the greatest pure dramatist in the world right now—our closest equivalent to such old-school titans as Chekhov, Ibsen, and Strindberg,” raved The AV Club.

Le Passé could very well win the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

'Heli' Shocks Cannes Audiences With Graphic Violence

Heli, a Mexican film competing for the Palme d’Or from director Amat Escalante, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday. Heli is a gritty drama about the devastating impact drug violence has on a family in Mexico. The film made waves at the Festival due to its frank depiction of violence. One particular scene contained a graphic sequence in which a man gets his penis burned off. Some audience members were so shocked by the unforgiving violence that they walked out of the screening. Escalante stands by his film, defending what he believes is an honest portrayal of extremely violent current events. “If I’m going to show violence, I’m going to give it the weight it should have,” Escalante told reporters.

Heli certainly has people talking, a fact that makes Escalante and co-writer Gabriel Reyes proud. “It would be very socially irresponsible not to talk about those bad things that are happening in our country. I think if we never talk about the bad things then problems might never be solved,” said Reyes.

Heli is the only Latin American film in the competition for the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It follows the story of what happens after a young girl falls in love with a police cadet, dragging the family into a drug war.

Powerball At $600 Million, Continues To Grow

The Powerball jackpot has reached $600 million, with the majority of possible Powerball number combinations currently in play; only 20% of possible combinations have yet to be drawn. During tonight’s drawing, someone is highly likely to win the game’s highest jackpot.

The chances of winning the large prize are incredibly slim – 1 in 175.2 million. However, that hasn’t stopped people in the 43 Powerball-playing states plus Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands from purchasing a ticket and trying their luck.

In March of 2012, the Mega Millions jackpot reached $656 million. It’s like that the current jackpot will climb even higher before the 10:59 ET drawing on Saturday evening. Currently at $600 million, it would have a $376.9 million cash prize.

Beyoncé, Jay-Z Expecting Second Child

Beyoncé and Jay-Z, music’s power couple, are expecting their second child, according to E! News. The pair had their first child, daughter Blue Ivy, a year ago.

Rumors about the “Halo” singer being pregnant were sparked earlier this month when she attended the Met Gala in a gown that seemed strategically cinched above the waist. The fiery pattern of the dress also made it easier for her to disguise a burgeoning baby bump.

Then, on Tuesday, Beyoncé canceled a Mrs. Carter Show tour stop in Antwerp, Belgium. Her rep had told E! at the time that she was “advised by her doctors to rest as a result of dehydration and exhaustion.”

Just a couple of weeks ago, the superstar revealed in an interview with ABC News that she was interested in adding to her brood. “I think my daughter needs some company. I definitely love being big sister [to Solange].”

Neither Beyoncé nor Jay-Z has confirmed the baby news.

Cannes Shooting: Shots Fired At Film Festival

Shots were fired at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday while a French TV channel was filming a live interview with Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz, reported CNN.

Canal+ was interviewing Waltz and actor Daniel Auteuil when the suspect fired two shots from a starter pistol, according to authorities. The man, who has since been placed in police custody, was allegedly also carrying a dummy grenade.

After the shots were heard, the interview along the Promenade de la Croisette was abruptly halted and the actors were taken to safety off the stage. When Canal+ anchor Michel Denisot came back on air he told viewers, “The shots fired were blanks and the grenade was fake. That’s what we know.”

The man who was arrested in connection with the scare has not been identified by French authorities.

No injuries were reported.

‘American Idol’ Recap: Candice Glover Wins Season 12

Candice Glover was crowed the winner of season 12 of American Idol during last night’s performance-packed episode, where Kree Harrison was named the season’s first runner up.

Before the final results were read off by host Ryan Seacrest, the two-hour show was filled with performances of Idol winners and finalists of seasons past. Jordin Sparks, whose win in season six was the last by a female on the show, returned as well as Adam Lambert, Bo Bice, Taylor Hicks and Kim Locke. The top five women from this season of Idol performed a medley of Aretha Franklin hits with the soul legend joining them by satellite. And, Jennifer Hudson did a duet with the would-be winner, Glover.

The bill also featured past and present American Idol judges, including Jennifer Lopez who performed her new hit “Live it Up” with Pitbull. Current judge Mariah Carey performed a medley of her own hits with Randy Jackson on guitar, and Keith Urban sang his new track “Little Bit of Everything.”

The Band Perry took to the Idol stage to perform “Done” with Janelle Arthur. Amber Holcomb returned for a duet with Emeli Sande on “Next to Me.” Psy wowed with his new single “Gentleman.” The top five male contestants (who were eliminated one after the other in the first five rounds of audience voting) returned for a medley with Frankie Valli. And, Angie Miller, the one-time front-runner of this year’s competition, performed “Titanium” with previous Idol runner-up Adam Lambert before her duet with Jessie J on “Domino.“

The night that marks Glover’s deserved win also marks the end of Jackson’s 12-season tenure on the judges panel of American Idol – the last of the show’s original judges. Nicki Minaj has also announced that she won't be returning next year, and rumors have it that neither Carey or Urban will be returning either. Along with a host of new talent for season 13, American Idol will be introducing fans to new (and hopefully improved) personalities in the judges’ chairs.

Jodi Arias Trial Update: Jurors Cry Listening To Travis Alexander’s Family Members

Jurors were left in tears after listening to the stories of loss from the family members of the late Travis Alexander, who was murdered by Jodi Arias in 2008. Arias, who was convicted of first-degree murder last week by these jurors, will soon have her sentencing decided by them.

In their gripping testimony, Alexander’s surviving family members detailed how their lives have been impacted by his gruesome death at Arias’ hands. Travis's sister Samantha revealed that their grandmother, who raised Travis, died around the time of the jury selection when her health continued to fail after her loss."Travis was the glue in our family," Samantha stated.

"Travis was our strength, our beacon of hope, our motivation," she added through tears. "Our lives will never be the same. [...] We would give anything to have him back."

Steven Alexander, Travis’s younger brother, revealed that following the loss of his older brother, he’s been hospitalized for ulcers and is now separated from his wife. He marveled at how his brother, who had survived both motorcycle and car crashes, could have died such a horrible death. "The nature of my brother's murder has had a major impact on me. It's even invaded my dreams," Steven told the jurors. "I've had nightmares about somebody coming after me with a knife, then going after my wife and my daughter."

Following the Alexander siblings’ testimony, the jurors were meant to hear from Arias’s character witnesses. However, after a delay, the judge announced that the trial was “unable to proceed.” It has been adjourned until Monday.

Aretha Franklin Cancels Upcoming Shows Due To Health Troubles

Aretha Franklin, the legendary diva and soul singer, has been encouraged by her doctors to cancel upcoming appearances due to her persistent health issues.

The singer, 71, has been forced to cancel at least two of her upcoming scheduled performances “due to her doctor’s recommendation for treatment,” reads a a statement on her Facebook page.

On May 20, Franklin was scheduled to perform at Members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the 24^th Annual Corporate Night. In her absence, Janelle Monae will take the stage. Later on in May, Franklin was to perform at the Foxwoods Casino in Massachusetts, but will be canceling that appearance as well.

Back in 2010, Franklin announced that her health required her to take an indefinite break from the stage for an undisclosed illness that left the icon in unbearable pain. The illness troubling her now has not been made public either.

Franklin performed via satellite on ‘American Idol’ last night with the season’s top five female competitors. Watch the video below:

Dick Trickle, Ex-NASCAR Driver, Dies At 71

Dick Trickle, a retired NASCAR driver, died on Thursday of an apparent self-inflected gunshot wound in North Carolina. He was 71.

A dispatcher in Lincoln County received a call earlier in the day in which the caller, believed to be Trickle, stated, “there would be a dead body and it would be his,” according to a news release by the country sheriff’s office. When the authorities tried to call the number back, there was no answer, reported CNN.

Emergency personnel were sent out to Boger City’s Forest Lawn Cemetary, and there they found a prone body lying near Trickles' pickup truck.

During his 31 years of racing, Trickle made quite a name for himself, winning two Nationwide Series races and earning 15 top-five finishes in NASCAR’s premier Sprint Cup series. Prior to breaking through as a NASCAR driver in 1989, Trickle had won over 1,200 stock car races.

Due in part to his unique name, sports commentators on ESPN enjoyed giving him shout outs during NASCAR races. Former SportsCenter co-anchor Keith Olbermann tweeted, "no sports figure [Dan Patrick and] I had fun with took it more graciously. In fact, gratefully."

On Thursday, upon learning the news of the death of one of NASCAR’s biggest personalities, NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France described Trickle in a statement as "a legend in the short-track racing community, particularly in his home state of Wisconsin, and he was a true fan favorite."

Alex Hepburn Performs At LIFE Summit Before Cannes Film Festival [Exclusive Video]

Alex Hepburn, the British singer, gave a surprise performance at the LIFE Summit in the lead up to the Cannes Film Festival at the Hotel Du Cap-Farret in Abites, France.

Hepburn toured with Bruno Mars on his 2011 European tour, and released her debut EP in 2012. Last month, she released her debut full-length album, Together Alone. One of the songs on the album, “Under,” is based on the artist’s real life breakup. “When he left me I felt like my world was crumbling,” Hepburn told Uinterview exclusively about her former boyfriend. “And I literally felt like he was burying me in the song, and the song is called ‘Under’ and it’s about how I actually felt at the time.”

Hepburn, who gained recognition while touring with American crooner Mars, also spoke to Uinterview about wanting to come stateside for a concert. "Unfortunately I can't clone myself and be in every country," she said. “Hopefully, eventually the states, it’s one of my favorite places anyway so I can’t wait.”

“Under” peaked at #2 on the French music charts.

Steve Carell Returns For 'The Office' Series Finale

Steve Carell, who played Michael Scott on The Office, returned to the show for its series finale as the character that made him a household name. Who else would be Dwight’s best man at his marriage to Angela?

On Thursday, the NBC workplace comedy set at the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Co. in Scraton, Pa., aired its final episode, ending an impressive eight-year run. Carell, who was the series’ original star when it premiered in 2005, left the show in 2011 to focus on his film career. While it had been confirmed that other series stars who had moved onto other projects would be returing for the finale, including Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak, Carell’s appearance had been kept under wraps.

When Carell left the show after seven season of playing the hapless boss-man Michael Scott, the rating for The Office began to slip. The NBC sitcom, which was once pulling in as many as 8 million viewers during Carell’s time on set, was only getting about 4 million per episode last year.

"This is a perfect time for the show to come to a close," Rain Wilson said, according to Fox. "There's a finality to it and a sadness to it." And although showrunner Craig Daniels had said in previous interviews that Carell/ Michael Scott had already had the perfect goodbye, it appears as though he realized the show itself needed the man and the character back for the show to have its perfect goodbye.

Paris Hilton Attends Cannes Film Festival For ‘The Bling Ring’ With River Viiperi

Paris Hilton and her boyfriend River Viiperi walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday. The socialite appears as herself in Sophia Coppola’s The Bling Ring, which premiered at the French Riviera film festival yesterday.

The Bling Ring is a ripped-from-the-headlines story about celebrity obsessed house burglars who tore through the Hollywood Hills homes of the rich and famous, making out with millions worth of items from Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom and others. Coppola, after taking on the project, realized that Hilton’s home would be difficult to replicate on a set. The director asked Hilton, who was robbed a total of five time, if she could use her home to film.

Hilton was happy to oblige. “[They] stole millions of dollars of my things: Birkin bags, family heirlooms, jewelry that was in my family for years, and then they sold it on Venice Beach like a yard sale,” she told The Hollywood Reporter before the film’s premiere at Cannes. “I haven’t seen the film yet… I’m going to have to close my eyes for fear of seeing what they really did.”

Not wanting to make celebrities out of the young criminals featured in her latest directorial effort, Coppola wisely changed their names. The filmmaker realized that it was their communal desire for fame and fortune that instigated their banditry, and served to make them less than remorseful once caught and had their story blasted across the headlines. In fact, when meeting with a couple of the celeb-home burglars, Coppola said that the one of girls still wanted desperately to meet Hilton’s dog.

“Trust me,” said Hilton. “I would not have done it if [Coppola] weren’t directing. I didn’t even know all of what they did in my house till she told me about it.”

The Bling Ring is due in theaters this summer.

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Recap: Katherine Gets The Cure, Elena Professes Love To Damon

The Vampire Diaries' season finale started off with Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) trying to rally those who died in the massacre to do something big for Graduation Day. Meanwhile, Lexi (Arielle Kebbel) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) were celebrating Stefan’s graduation and the upcoming apocalypse dancing at the Salvatore Mansion. Bonnie (Kat Graham) was somewhat less enthusiastic about the impending matriculation, suggesting to Caroline (Candice Accola) that they cancel it; she doesn’t want people to know she’s dead.

Elena (Nina Dobrev), Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Alaric (Matthew Davis) hang out in the courtyard of the Salvatore Mansion eating burgers and fries. Elena begins to shed happy tears, but then she learns from Connor (Todd Williams) that Alexander (Paul Telfer) has Matt (Zach Roerig) standing on a bomb. Then Vaughn (Charlie Bewley) shows up and shoots Damon, relaying the message that The Hunters were in search of the cure and Silas. Stefan sneaks up behind him and rips his heart out before he can share Connor’s threat to harm everyone celebrating their graduation at the Mystic Grill.

Connor, strapped with explosives at the grill, is all ready to make good on the threat. But Alaric gets there in time to save the day. Just as Connor detonates the bomb, Alaric carries him off to explode a safe distance away from the bar.

Katherine, enraged that Bonnie has yet to deliver on her promise of immortality, threatens to kill Elena. Coming to Elena’s defense, Bonnie beings to crush her with a magical headache when students approach, breaking up the confrontation all together.

Back at the Salvatore house, Elena rejects Damon’s gift of the cure. Jeremy, resolved to Elena’s vampire status, says it's ultimately her choice. In any case, who’s really in danger at the moment is Damon. The bullet Vaughn shot him with was laced with werewolf venom and the wound isn’t healing. Elena tries to get Damon to take the cure so that he could become human and live, but he too rejects it.

Matt and Rebekah (Claire Holt), who had agreed to go travelling together after graduation, are trying to figure out what to do about the bomb. Matt claims that if she detonates the bomb he would have a shot at living because he’s wearing the Gilbert ring. She kisses him to lure him off the block and take his place because she knows that she can’t be killed. When she moves, the bomb goes off and everyone's okay.

Despite her worry over Damon, who’d left to go find Silas, Elena is forced to go to her graduation. She and Stefan meet up with Bonnie, Caroline and Matt. Bonnie eventually sneaks off with Kol who tells her about his army of ghosts. Meanwhile, Damon gets shot more times by Vaughn before Alaric snaps the villains neck and considers forcing Damon to take the cure. Damon eventually heals because Klaus has given him his blood.

After everyone knows that Damon is alright, Elena takes Stefan aside and thanks him for not giving up on her during her crazier days, and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) gifts Caroline with the return of her first love, Tyler. Then, Elena returns to the Salvatore Mansion and confesses her love to Damon, leaving Stefan completely heartbroken. Lexi catches him eavesdropping and offers a shoulder to cry on. He decides it’s time to leave, and Lexi helps him figure out where he wants to start a new life.

Since it was time for the veil to go up, it is officially revealed that Bonnie’s death saved Jeremy and she’s now a ghost. She makes him promise to tell Elena, who’s currently looking for her, that she would be staying with her mother. In her search for Bonnie, Elena runs into Katherine. The two duel and Katherine rams a knife into Elena’s neck, which Elena returns with a forced administration of the cure – Katherine’s now a human.

Another fight is ensuing between Stefan and Silas, in which Stefan gets staked through the stomach. Silas then thows him into a large safe and tosses it into the quarry. Will Silas now return to Mystic Falls in the guise of Stefan?

'Scandal' Recap: Olivia Discovered As Fitz's Mistress, Cyrus Suffers Heart Attack

Scandal ended last week with the gladiators of Olivia Pope & Associates discovering that former Vice President Chief of Staff Billy Chambers is the mole they’ve all be searching for. This week, in “White Hat’s Back On,” they’re still reeling from the realization and continuing to put the complicated puzzle together.

Quinn (Katie Lowes), who seems a bit unhinged, recalls that Billy (Matt Letscher) had murdered her boyfriend with a pair of scissors and Huck (Guillermo Diaz) realizes that Charlie (George Newbern) never went through with his request to murder him. A flashback informs the viewer that Billy weaseled his way out of the kill with the promise of confidential passwords that would provide Charlie with an arsenal of blackmail information. Huck is now determined to kill the mole himself.

Defiance congregates for a meeting of the minds in the White House kitchen, as they’re trying to figure out what to do about the incriminating Cytron card that’s gone missing. It's worth nothing that Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) shows up for the meeting.

Relationship drama also continues, as Mellie (Bellamy Young) is still desperate for a way to win Fitz back. Cyrus (Jeff Perry) attempts to convince her that she’ll get her husband in the end, but meanwhile Fitz is suggesting to Olivia (Kerry Washington) that they get married and she becomes his First Lady. So, there’s that.

While Rowan (Joe Morton) and Jake (Scott Foley) are discussing Olivia, she’s trying to figure out how to take out Billy with the Gladiators back at the office. They start to believe that Samuel Reston (Tom Amandes), the scorned Governor of Maryland who let his wife take the blame for his murder of the contractor she was sleeping with, has something to do with it. Olivia is confident in the theory; her gladiators not so much.

At the White House, Cyrus has a stressful meeting with Rowan. Then, Olivia informs him about Reston, who is at that moment in a meeting with Fitz telling him that he knows all about Defiance and the election rigging. Storming to the Oval Office, Cyrus grips his arm, takes a gasping breath and falls to the floor suffering a heart attack – an unlukcy fate that seems to befall TV Chiefs of Staff (Leo McGarry West Wing Season 6). Unlike Leo, Cyrus continues to work, attempting to control the Reston situation from his cell phone in the ambulance.

The Cytron card, which is currently in the possession of David Rosen (Joshua Malina), ends up in Billy’s hands. After avowing that Olivia and company are his friends, he seems to be ultimately won over by Billy’s persuasion and his almost annoyingly rigid moral code.

When Mellie go to Cyrus’s hospital room to see Fitz, Fitz tells her about his plan to marry Olivia. Mellie, who’s approval ratings are down after her public reveal of her husband’s affair, gets the news that Fitz has found a way to get what he wants and not look like a petty womanizer in the process. His plan: After dating women his age for a while, the public will then see him “reconnecting” with old friend and confidante Olivia Pope. Not a bad plan, actually, and Mellie seems to realize this.

Olivia almost ends up completely out of the picture, as a woman spotted earlier in the episode breaks through her door with a gun poised to kill. Just in time, Jake bursts onto the scene to shoot her dead and save Olivia’s life. He reveals he’s B6-13, which apparently rings a bell to Olivia, and then disappears. Olivia tells Cyrus she knows the attack on her life was to get her out of the President’s life, but that she’s going to be with him regardless.

Meanwhile, Quinn and Huck have teamed up to take out Billy. During some gruesome torture of the mole, Huck starts to have an uncharacteristic breakdown. Not to worry, Quinn’s completely up to the task and begins to drill into Billy’s head to learn the location of the Cytron card. It also turns out that David Rosen actually gave Billy a blank Cytron card, and did the morally reprehensible (yet, good friend/career move) thing of bargaining with Cyrus to get his job back as the DC District Attorney.

The finale comes to a close with Cyrus trying to break the Cytron card, Fitz calming Mellie down, David yelling at his new assistant, Jake getting tortured by Rowan (Liv’s dad as we now know), and Olivia, fresh off the latest dramatic conversation with the president and ready for a run. And then, she opens her door to a swarm of reporters asking about her affair with the president. Well, looks like Fitz won’t be able to put his master plan into effect – and it’ll have to wait until next season to find out who leaked the juicy news.

Season 3 of Shonda Rimes' Scandal will premiere in the fall.

Jennifer Hudson Returns To ‘American Idol’ Stage

Jennifer Hudson, who was eliminated from the final 7 of American Idol's season 3, returned to the singing competition to perform with Candice Glover, the night's eventual winner.

The two powerhouse vocalists took on Natalie Cole’s “Inseparable.” After Hudson and Glover teamed up to tackle the melody throughout the majority of the song, much to the judges delight, Hudson took a step back to let Glover finish it off on her own. “Sing it, Candice,” she said as she pulled back her own mic. The duo received a much-deserved standing ovation from the judges and audience alike.

Hudson’s elimination in season 3 was seen as premature by both the fans and the judges. However, Hudson has since earned a spot as a true star of the music industry. She’s gone on to win a Grammy and an Oscar for her turn as Effie White in the critically acclaimed Dreamgirls musical, in which she did the unthinkable in outshining Beyoncé. She also had the honor of performing Al Green’s "Let’s Stay Together" at the Inaugural Ball back in January.
