Logan Lerman Biography

Logan Lerman was born on January 19, 1992, to Lisa and Larry Lerman in Beverly Hills. He has two older siblings, Lindsey and Lucas, and is of Jewish descent. He is related to twin singers, Evan and Jaron Lowenstein.

Lerman expressed a desire to act at 2 years old, after seeing a Jackie Chan movie. By the age of 4, he had landed an agent and appeared in a few commercials. He got his first major role at age 8 as the younger version of Mel Gibson in What Women Want. Later that year he appeared in The Patriot with Gibson again, playing his son.

Throughout the years Lerman has appeared in a number of movies, including Fury, The Three Musketeers, Noah, My One and Only, Riding In Cars With Boys as Drew Barrymore‘s son, The Number 23 as Jim Carrey’s son, The Butterfly Effect as a younger Ashton Kutcher, 3:10 To Yuma as Christian Bale‘s son and Bullet Train. He was considered for the part of Romeo in the 2013 film Romeo & Juliet opposite Hailee Steinfeld but ultimately lost the role to Douglas Booth. Critics often praise Lerman’s acting ability in his films.

Lerman had a big break when he accepted the lead for the Percy Jackson franchise, taking on the title character. Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief came out in 2010, and the sequel Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters was released in 2013. He admitted to not reading the books the movies were based on before filming. Lerman was nominated for several MTV Movie Awards and Teen Choice Awards for his performance in the first film.

Logan Lerman ‘Perks Of Being A Wallflower’ And Interview

Lerman appeared in the 2012 hit film The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, based on the book by film director Stephen Chbosky. The film costarred Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, Nina Dobrev and Mae Whitman. “We had so many good times, all of us as a cast,” Lerman told Uinterview exclusively. “We would hang out together at our little hotel. We stayed at this Crown Plaza in the middle of the mall, this suburban area just outside of Pittsburgh. We’d get together and play music. It was pretty great. It was a great time.”

One of the film’s biggest fans was Sir Paul McCartney, whom Lerman got to meet. “That was the coolest. It was just one of the coolest moments in my life,” Lerman told Uinterview. “You get to meet a Beatle and he’s complimenting you the whole time? It’s insane. It was really cool.”

Though he enjoyed making the film, Lerman was not a fan of doing the Rocky Horror Picture Show scene in which he wears nothing but a gold Speedo. “That was uncomfortable. It was one of the moments you try not to think about before you do it and you try to forget it really quickly afterward,” Lerman told Uinterview. “I was really nervous to see the film and check that scene out. But I saw the film recently and I was dreading seeing that sequence and I was really surprised. They had a lot more footage than what was shown in the film and they were really nice to kind of condense it into clips that would be suitable for like a PG-13 film.”

Lerman costarred in the short-lived TV show Jack & Bobby with Matt Long and Dean Collins. In their spare time, Lerman and Collins wrote, directed, and shot short comedic films under the YouTube channel ‘monkeynuts1069.’ Following Jack & Bobby‘s cancellation, Lerman and Collins remained friends and created the band Indigo. Lerman played the guitar and keyboard for the band and, though he said the band wasn’t anything serious, considers music his biggest passion after filmmaking.

In addition to acting, Lerman hopes to get involved in aspects of filmmaking beyond acting, including writing, producing, and directing. He has cited Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher, Peter Bogdanovich and Stanley Kubrick as his favorite directors.
